I received my training to practice Health Coaching at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories - combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. Integrative Nutrition's mission is to play a crucial role in improving health and happiness in America, and through that process, create a ripple effect that transforms the world. I was led to this unique holistic health program when asked a challenging question - "what would you do if you could do any work in the world?" I replied that I wanted to be a guide for people's best health. It was not long when a friend told me about the school, and my path became clearer.
I have a background in art, community-supported agriculture and organic farming, as a worker in a health food store co-op, helping to run a chiropractic and natural health clinic, earning a certificate in horticultural studies, and experience in urban gardening. My family raised me with a mind to healthy food, and an appreciation of art and the outdoors, nature, foraging for wild food, and gardening. I grew up with an awareness of what supported a positive, healthy life, and have carried that to work that I have passion for - to serve others in co-creating a way to live and eat in a way that is sustainable to optimal health. The freeness that good health brings can open many doors, and becomes a path for each of us to do the work we are meant to, and also heal each other. I hope to serve others in becoming more connected to the food they choose to nourish their bodies and their families, and so become more connected to the source of that food, our fellows in humans, animals, and the land that supports us all.
